A new president has been named: seasoned Chamber executive Bobby Lieb, who came to the Houston Northwest of Commerce 2 years ago as Vice President of Community & Economic Development.  Bobby will replace Chamber president Barbara Thomason, who is retiring at the end of this month after nearly 15 years of service.

“Bobby’s vision and leadership have been critical as he worked closely with the various Chamber committees, helping to shape what the Chamber would become,” said Board Chair Rodney E. Watson, superintendent of Spring Independent School District.

As Bobby steps into his new role with this growing Chamber, he looks to embrace diversity, focus on opportunities for area redevelopment, and track new businesses. “We look for opportunities for redevelopment with a goal of honoring and enhancing the amenities established in our northwest Harris County area”, said Lieb.

Bobby moved to the Houston area in 2016 from Durango, CO where he had an extensive background in community and economic development, county government and business development.  Bobby served for 3 years as the executive director of the Durango Chamber of Commerce and 4 years as the county commissioner for La Plata County.

“Because of his previous Chamber and local government experience, Bobby’s passion for analytics and complex problem-solving skills demonstrate a strong commitment to working with local businesses, government officials and other stakeholders to achieve our overall mission,” added Board Member Ron Smith of Southwestern Energy.

As Vice President of Community and Economic Development, Lieb focused on executing the economic and community development initiatives of the Chamber, including business attraction, retention and expansion, community branding and imaging, and crime reduction. He established collaborative economic development partnerships with the State Office of Economic Development and developers, resulting in better project flow to the Chamber’s service areas.

“As a longtime member of this community, I am excited by the variety of possibilities ahead of us,” said Board Member Crystal Molen.  “As we build on the firm foundation laid by those who devoted countless hours to our growth, we are positioned to soar to greater heights.”
