Diamonds & Ice Gala A Patriotic Affair Indeed

Houston, Spring, Klein, Champions, TX – The Houston Northwest Chamber hosted its annual Diamonds & Ice Gala on Saturday, January 26, 2019 at the CityPlace Marriott in Springwoods Village. This year’s theme was Red, White & Blue: A Patriotic Affair, a tribute to our national colors and the amazing first responders and military who protect and serve our country and community. The theme and ambiance of the evening were carefully chosen by the gala committee who worked tirelessly to ensure the event was a success.

Guests arriving in formal attire kicked off the evening at the Diamond Reception sponsored by Prairie View A&M University featuring a live Spanish guitarist from The Zuniga School of Music. After a pleasurable time perusing auction items, taking pictures with the Lone Star College System’s iRobots and reacquainting with friends, guests gravitated to the new, elegant ballroom for the main event. The Texas Master Chorale performed ‘America The Beautiful’ followed by a moving accapela version of our National Anthem through which all guests stood.

After a formal thank you to our first responders and veterans by emcee and auctioneer, Wayne Wheat, The Clear Auctioneer and a U.S. Army Veteran, guests celebrated Gala Honorees: Becky & Mark Lanier, and Diamond Awardee: Fallbrook Church. Also thanked was our amazing Gala Chair, Kaci Hancock, of Houston Methodist Willowbrook Hospital for her leadership and volunteer efforts leading up to the event. To honor those sponsors who decorated their own tables, Judge Lincoln Goodwin and Dr. Jim Cain served as judges for the night and named America’s ER Medical Centers as Grand Champion with an Honorable Mention to Northwest Assistance Ministries. Their tables were a delight to the eyes and also encompassed the red, white & blue theme.

Following dinner, the Twilight’s Last Gleaming After Party sponsored by CDC Houston, Inc. kicked it up a notch with dancing, entertainment from Signature EvenTx and a special treat bar courtesy of Lolli and Pops. The room was hopping and the dance floor stayed packed until it was time to turn out the lights. For some the party did not stop there as guests continued to enjoy a fun-filled night on the Marriott’s esplanades and verandas amongst Springwoods Village’s beautiful grounds and lit waterfall.
The Chamber was fortunate to receive an extensive list of sponsors for the 2019 Diamonds and Ice Gala including Houston Methodist Willowbrook, Westpark Communications, L.P., and America’s ER Medical Centers. A portion of the proceeds raised at the 2019 Diamonds & Ice Gala will be presented to local non-profit Shield Bearer Counseling Centers which provides professional counseling for first responders, active military, veterans and their families regardless of their ability to pay.

“The proceeds from the Diamonds & Ice Gala contribute greatly towards the community and economic development work of the Houston Northwest Chamber of Commerce. We are grateful to our sponsors and members for their continued support,” said Barbara Thomason, Chamber president.
