HOUSTON—Houston Northwest Chamber of Commerce presented six honorable awards to key Cypress Creek Community members during its November Community Luncheon on November 8. These agencies were recognized for their effort in helping the community recover from Hurricane Harvey. The plaques were awarded to Harris County Sheriff's Office, represented by Captain Jay Coons; Harris County Constable Precinct 4 represented by Constable Mark Herman; Lone Star College represented by Amos McDonald; Aldine ISD represented by Chief Goralski; Klein ISD represented by Bret Champion; Spring ISD, represented by Dr. Julie Hill.

“The amount of efforts these community leaders put into the Harvey relief efforts inspired all of us in the community. The Chamber Board could not help but recognize these “heroes” who truly make our community the best to live in!” said the Chamber President Barbara Thomason.

The honored organizations created shelters for displaced families, worked to collect goods for their neighbors, or participated in rescue missions throughout the Houston area.

“These organizations were able to focus on Harvey relief efforts even though they were victims of the floods themselves. It’s our privilege to recognize their commitment to the Cypress Creek Community,” commented the Chamber Board Chair Ray Laughter.
