Job Summary
The Director of Nursing (DON) plays a pivotal role in overseeing the nursing department within a healthcare facility, particularly in nursing homes and hospice care settings. This leadership position is responsible for ensuring high standards of patient care, compliance with regulatory requirements, and the effective management of nursing staff. The DON will collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement care plans that meet the needs of residents while fostering a culture of excellence in nursing practice.

Duties

  • Lead and manage the nursing team, providing guidance and support to ensure optimal patient care delivery.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate nursing policies and procedures in accordance with Medicare regulations and best practices.
  • Oversee the creation and maintenance of individualized care plans for residents, ensuring they are tailored to meet specific health needs.
  • Monitor compliance with medical terminology standards and regulatory requirements within the facility.
  • Conduct regular assessments of nursing practices to identify areas for improvement and implement necessary changes.
  • Facilitate staff training and development initiatives to enhance nurse management skills and promote professional growth.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to coordinate comprehensive patient care services.
  • Ensure effective communication among staff, residents, and families regarding care plans and health status.

Experience

  • A valid nursing license with a minimum of 5 years of experience in nursing administration or a related field.
  • Proven experience in managing nursing teams within a nursing home or hospice care setting.
  • Strong knowledge of Medicare regulations and compliance standards related to nursing practices.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate a diverse team of healthcare professionals.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology and healthcare systems is essential for effective communication and operational efficiency.
  • Experience in developing care plans that align with best practices in patient-centered care.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $70,000.00 - $72,000.00 per year
