Community: Second Chance Fair
Fallbrook Church is hosting a Second Chance Workshop, Saturday, October 3, 2015, 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at 12512 Walters Road, Houston, TX 77014. This FREE informational workshop is for individuals who have faced road blocks when seeking employment because of criminal background issues. Attorneys and their personnel will be available on Saturday for one-on-one consultations based on individual needs. Topics of discussion will include motions to seal juvenile records, expunctions, motions for non-disclosure and more. Also at the workshop will be employers with immediate job openings. Participants under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. In October 2011, Fallbrook Church birthed its newest ministry entitled Fallbrook Jobs Act: Putting People Back to Work. The mission is to serve as an extension of President Obama?s American Jobs Act ? to put more people back to work and put more money in the pockets of working Americans. Ambassador Committee Meeting
The Ambassadors promote goodwill to Chamber members, provide a direct personal contact for Chamber members and for the community, and support Chamber member retention efforts. Ambassadors are “the face of the Chamber” and as such are asked to support and participate in various Chamber activities. Areas of primary responsibility include: ribbon cutting ceremonies, luncheons, routine member visits and phone calls, and hosting at other Chamber events.

Membership Meet & Greets are held every first Wednesday of the month from 5-7 p.m. Join us to meet Chamber members, shake some hands, talk about your business and learn how the Chamber might support your business from those in the community who know first-hand about the benefits - other Chamber members.
Everyone is invited to this no-program event held each month at different locations across our Chamber membership. This is no charge to attend - we are at the courtesy of our host each month.

Chamber Monthly Luncheon 10-08-2015
Member Luncheons are are held each month of the year except for July. Luncheons are intended to connect local businesses and Members to each other and to the community. Each luncheon has a different speaker and topic. This is a great sponsorship opportunity. We encourage all of our members to attend these luncheons to network and surround yourself and your business with other businesses just like yours. Early registration is suggested and appreciated.
In October we will enjoy hearing from Jack Ladd of Move Texas Forward. He will speak to the November Ballot referendum, Prop 7.
Jack Ladd serves as the President of Move Texas Forward a nonpartisan organization that educates and informs Texans about the importance of funding transportation infrastructure to keep pace with our state’s rapid job and population growth.

Spring Creek Greenway Ambassador Training begins October 15th Join your fellow Houstonians and Spring, Klein, Tomball, Humble, Woodlands, Heights, and Katy residents, who have taken the training sessions of local landscape literacy provided by BLC. We're so excited to share, after 2 years of this program, how these Ambassadors will be adopting their own acreage along the longest, urban, forested, contiguous greenway in the country. Check the schedule on our website and join other conservation-minded folks who want to help us protect water quality and preserve wildlife habitat! Please note that the first day training date (October 15th) is a mandatory attendance date in order to be enrolled in the Fall 5-week Ambassador program. Two classes are inside, all the rest are outside!

An official City of Houston event, Energy Day is a FREE, family-friendly festival that celebrates and highlights the importance of energy and science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) in our daily lives. There will be a variety of interactive energy exhibits and booths, live music, food, contests and fun for all ages. Geared toward K-12 students, Energy Day's mission is to highlight and demonstrate innovation in energy and to spark the interests of our next generation in energy-related careers. Through exciting, fun and interactive formats, Energy Day will give students and their families an opportunity to learn about various forms of energy, scientific breakthroughs and technology through educational displays, demonstrations, contests and presentations. Fallbrook Church welcomes world-renowned pediatric neurosurgeon, humanitarian and best-selling author Dr. Ben Carson, Sunday, October 18, 2015 at their 8 a.m. and 11 a.m. services. Dr. Carson will share his compelling life story from his impoverished childhood to his successful career as a surgeon and the faith that carried him along the way. Dr. Carson was raised by a poor single mother in Detroit and recently retired as the director of pediatric neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital after a groundbreaking medical career of more than thirty-five years. Now a Washington Times columnist and FOX News contributor, he is the author of five previous books, including the New York Times bestsellers Gifted Hands and, most recently, America the Beautiful, co-authored with his wife, Candy Carson. He is the recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the highest civilian honor in the country. He and his wife together founded the Carson Scholars Fund, dedicated to recognizing the academic achievements of deserving young people. Community: Family Fall Festival
This is a must-not-miss event for the whole family. On Saturday October 24, Kinsmen Lutheran Church will host a fun-filled evening for your family to help support the Food Pantry at Wunderlich Intermediate School located at 11800 Misty Valley Drive, Houston, 77066. Wunderlich, one of nine Title I campuses in Klein ISD, has over 1,200 students on free or reduced lunch, and nearly 400 of those students are identified as high-needs based on economic and government assistance reports each year. You can support the local food pantry by bringing non-perishable food items to Kinsmen?s Fall Festival and in doing so you will also be able to participate in an evening of family fun festival activities ? Trunk or Treating, games, moonwalks, face painting, contests, prizes and much more. Food and refreshments will be available for purchase. The Kinsmen Lutheran Church Fall Festival will be held on October 24 from 6:30 PM until 8:30 PM. Kinsmen Lutheran Church is located at 12100 Champion Forest Drive.
