Do you have running a marathon or half marathon on your bucket list? Do you want to get in shape or need a new fitness goal? Then join USA Fit Champions at our orientation eventon Saturday, July 18,from 7 - 9 am and start training with us! Learn more about our marathon and half marathon training program, meet your coaches and fellow members, register onsite and come prepared to start your first day of training with an easy pace run to place you in your specific training group. You can also register online at www.ChampionsFit.net. No matter how much you?ve run (or haven?t!), we have a training group for every skill level, so you?ll always have someone to train with. Over the course of 29 short weeks, our coaches will help you achieve your personal best in a non-intimidating, fun, and safe environment. If you miss orientation?you can still register online at www.ChampionsFit.net through August 31 and join us for your first day of training on any Saturday between now and September 5. As a member of USA Fit Champions, you?ll receive: ? Ability-based weekly group runs ? Daily training schedules to keep you progressing during the week ? Encouragement and expertise from trained coaches ? Informational seminars on running- and fitness-related topics ? Camaraderie and social events ? A USA Fit Champions Fit technical T-shirt Our target races for the season will be the Cheveron Houston Full Half Marathon and Aramco Half Marathon in January 2016 or the Memorial Hermann USA Fit Full/Half Marathon in February 2016. The Ambassadors promote goodwill to Chamber members, provide a direct personal contact for Chamber members and for the community, and support Chamber member retention efforts. Ambassadors are “the face of the Chamber” and as such are asked to support and participate in various Chamber activities. Areas of primary responsibility include: ribbon cutting ceremonies, luncheons, routine member visits and phone calls, and hosting at other Chamber events.

Membership Meet & Greets are held every first Wednesday of the month from 5-7 p.m. Join us to meet Chamber members, shake some hands, talk about your business and learn how the Chamber might support your business from those in the community who know first-hand about the benefits - other Chamber members.

Everyone is invited to this no-program event held each month at different locations across our Chamber membership. This is no charge to attend - we are at the courtesy of our host each month.

In the USA, we have been arranging Blood drives Nationwide for the last 4 years to Honor the Lives lost on Sep. 11th tragedy. www.muslimsforlife.org. Over the last 4 yrs we have been able to collect close to 40,000 units of blood Nationwide, which equates to having help save over 100,000 lives. We have achieved this by partnering with local churches, synagogues, temples, non-profit humanitarian organizations , hospitals, schools, colleges, universities, cities, town halls and state Legislature. Ask: We are arranging a blood drive on Sep 13th, 11 am--3pm, in Houston,-remarks: 1:00 Pm at our place of worship- 1333 Spears rd, Houston, Tx 77067. We are inviting all -Mayoral candidates for Houston- to come and join us in Honoring those lost Souls by donating blood, and to help save American lives. We would be delighted if Chris Bell will come and support us in our endeavor.

Government Affairs-Transportation Forum is our Chamber's means to educate ourselves of key issues and recommend action to the Chamber's Public Policy Council and/or Board.

Capt. Bill Diehl of the Greater Houston Port Bureau will provide an update on the ship channel, the preparations being made to receive the larger ships, and the benefits of building out more shore side transportation infrastructure.

Klein Lions Club 4th annual Fish fry fundraiser. We fry the fish fresh on location. It is served with Homemade Hush Puppies (fried fresh on location) and beans. The Klein Lions Club puts 100% of all monies raised back into the community. We also support the Texas Lions Camp, for Physical Disabilities, Diabetes and Down Syndrome. The Writers' League is excited to host this free & open to the public panel discussion in the Houston area. The label "writer" can often be associated with a solitary existence -- a lone figure bent over a computer or notebook for hours at a stretch, at a desk for one, in a room of one's own. But, while alone time for writing is important, it's also important to remember that there's a rich, diverse and active community that exists for writers. And there are myriad ways that we as writers can participate in that literary community; ways we can connect with each other to establish our creative tribe. Our four distinguished panelists will offer thoughts and guidance regarding the ways we can support and uplift each other, engage in the larger literary community (not always easy for the shy and reserved among us), adhere to some do's and don't's on social media and elsewhere, approach giving and receiving criticism (especially with regard to reviewing other writers' books), and just generally behave ourselves, play nice, and make lasting connections.
