Membership Meet & Greets are held every first Wednesday of the month from 5-7 p.m. Join us to meet Chamber members, shake some hands, talk about your business and learn how the Chamber might support your business from those in the community who know first-hand about the benefits - other Chamber members.

Everyone is invited to this no-program event held each month at different locations across our Chamber membership. This is no charge to attend - we are at the courtesy of our host each month.

The Ambassadors promote goodwill to Chamber members, provide a direct personal contact for Chamber members and for the community, and support Chamber member retention efforts. Ambassadors are “the face of the Chamber” and as such are asked to support and participate in various Chamber activities. Areas of primary responsibility include: ribbon cutting ceremonies, luncheons, routine member visits and phone calls, and hosting at other Chamber events.

Surviving an Active Shooter

The Houston Police Department is pleased to present to the citizens of Houston an informative hour and a half seminar on the reality of an active shooter in your community.
 
Dating back to 1966 at the University of Texas we have seen senseless and tragic loss of life due to deranged individuals. In our current world which is filled with disaster it is prudent to know what to expect and what to do should you find yourself in the face of an active shooter.
 
In a world where your thoughts are rarely focused on such topics, proven, common sense instruction by experienced professionals may eventually save your life.
 
Some of the high points that will be discussed are: 

• A historic overview of Active Shooting in America.
• Active Shooter profile
• Police response
• Run, Hide, Fight
• Priority of Life Scale
• Emergency Response Plans
• Case Studies
• Developing your own unique Survival Mind Set

 
Also presented are the films “Run, Hide, Fight” and “Last Resort Active Shooter Survival Measures” and the “Florida School Board Shooting”.
 
It should be noted that acquisition of weapons is not encouraged; yet we do advise developing your own unique customized survival mind set for the world you live and work in. Much of the information is cutting edge and designed by the Houston Police Department, a law enforcement pioneer in this area. As of June 2014 over 15,000 citizens of Houston have received this empowering training.

The 2nd Annual Sporting Clay Classic will be held on Friday, October 17. Paul and Celina Cerone are chairing this event for the second year. This event will benefit St. Anne Catholic School - Tomball. All are invited to join in for this fun afternoon.

The McGovern Centennial Gardens, designed by Hoerr Schaudt with White Oak Studio consulting, is the Conservancy's largest improvement project ever undertaken and will completely transform the 15-acre Garden Center site into a spectacular new attraction for Park visitors. The Gardens will feature a Family Garden, Centennial Green, 30' Garden Mount, Celebration Garden, Rose Garden, and the Cherie Flores Garden Pavilion, designed by architect Peter Bohlin of Bohlin Cywinski Jackson, famed designer of the glass Apple stores worldwide. This family-friendly opening day celebration will include art and education projects sponsored by Macy's, music, food, performances and more.

Mingle with celebrities from the world of entertainment and pro sports during Dan Pastorini's Celebrity Charity Golf Invitational and Tournament Pre-Party & Poker Party honoring Larry Dierker and Betty Johnston. Hosted by Dan Pastorini, proceeds benefit Be An Angel Fund and Bum Phillips Charities. Festivities begin with the Tournament Pre-Party and Poker Party Sunday, October 19 at the Marriott Sugar Land Town Square. The Guzzlers will entertain with their energetic mix of soul, country, disco and classic rock; buffet dinner is provided as well as a live and silent auction filled with signature items and autographed memorabilia. Dan Pastorini's Celebrity Golf Invitational follows Monday, October 20 at Sugar Creek Country Club. Golfers play 18 holes with one of our star-studded line-up of celebrities. Larry Dierker and Betty Johnston will be honored with the Dan Pastorini Halo Humanitarian Award, which recognizes extraordinary people who actively improve the lives of those in need through selfless, courageous, creative and compassionate acts. Dierker, former Houston Astros pitcher, manager and broadcaster is a force for Literacy Advance in Houston. Dierker also spends countless hours teaching reading to many who have not had the opportunity to learn. Johnston has been the strength of many charitable efforts in Houston including the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo, Crystal Foundation, Bum and the Boys, Be An Angel, Literacy Advance, Dan Pastorini Charity and many more. Both Dierker and Johnston are dynamic in their philanthropic and fundraising efforts.

Q for a Cause III

Local non-profit Eat for a Cause is bringing celebrity cook John Mueller to Houston to sell his world-famous BBQ for a third time. This charity fundraiser benefits Houston’s homeless veterans through our event partner, U.S. Vets. This year includes special guests Ronnie Killen of Killen’s Barbecue in Pearland, Wes Jurena of Pappa Charlie’s Barbeque in Houston, and Neal Strawder of Bigmista’s Barbeque in Los Angeles.

On Saturday October 25th we are taking over Cottonwood, where John Mueller will smoke over 1,500 pounds of brisket, beef ribs, sausage, boudin, and turkey which will be for sale by the pound. This kid-friendly event features live music, a silent auction, and t-shirts and koozies for sale with proceeds going to help local homeless vets. You can wet your whistle at the Cottonwood bar which serves hand-made cocktails, wine by the glass, $3 Lone Stars, and over 40 beers on tap. 

John Mueller is a 3rd generation pit-master whose food has been featured in Texas Monthly and the New York Times. In years past we’ve sold out of meat in just a few hours, so get in line early. We hope to see y’all there!

Annual fundraiser for St. Anne Catholic School and Church. This two-day event will begin on Saturday evening (10/25) at 6pm with bingo, dancing, food and drinks. Sunday's events will be from 11am-6pm and feature bingo, a live and silent auction, food and games for everyone!

Join us for our monthly Networking Breakfast. This is a great way to start your day - our members and guests bring a lot of positive energy to this event.

The Healthcare Industry Committee will support the Chamber's Economic Development focus in areas related to the healthcare industry by promoting Northwest Houston as a medical center, by providing needed CEUs or CMEs for medical professionals, and by providing healthcare-related information for businesses.
