Events for July 2014

The Ambassadors promote goodwill to Chamber members, provide a direct personal contact for Chamber members and for the community, and support Chamber member retention efforts. Ambassadors are “the face of the Chamber” and as such are asked to support and participate in various Chamber activities. Areas of primary responsibility include: ribbon cutting ceremonies, luncheons, routine member visits and phone calls, and hosting at other Chamber events.

Don't miss this exciting and rare opportunity to witness a Thomas Kinkade canvas come to life with the stroke of a brush. See firsthand as a specially trained artisan adds dimension through hand highlighting with oil paint, making each piece a unique work of art. A Master Highlighter Event is an 8-hour personal appearance by a certified Thomas Kinkade Master Highlighter. During the event, a highlighter enhances images of the gallery's choice. Pieces explode with dimension and are brought to life with a stroke of the master highlighter's brush. This is a unique opportunity for the collector to interact with highlighters and learn more about Thomas Kinkade's art. Master Highlighters are hand-picked and have worked on Studio Proofs. They also have graduated from Thomas Kinkade 101, a class teaching the proper Master Highlighting Techniques as well as personal instructions by Thomas Kinkade. This fun and unique one week camp will feature a smorgasbord of dance:  ballet, jazz, hip-hop, Chinese, creative movement, and musical theater.
Geared for children going into Kindergarten through 5th grade, each day campers will learn about different styles of dance, make a craft, and enjoy lunch*.  The cost of the camp includes 4 days of instruction (4 hours per day) with an optional field trip on Friday, a camp t-shirt,  and all of the supplies to complete the craft projects.

NOTE: Campers must provide their own lunch. Campers should wear comfortable clothes to allow for movement and shoes with socks. Campers may bring ballet shoes. Program is separated into appropriate age groups. Guest artist & field trip subject to change.

Highlights of the week:

• Houston Ballet’s own Lauren Anderson will present a “tutu talk.”
• On Thursday, campers will present a performance at 2:15 pm.
• On the Friday, campers have the opportunity to go on an optional field trip to visit Houston Ballet’s new state of the art Center for Dance facility and the Wortham Center. Parents must provide transportation and chaperone their children on the field trip.
