Events for April 2014

The Ambassadors promote goodwill to Chamber members, provide a direct personal contact for Chamber members and for the community, and support Chamber member retention efforts. Ambassadors are “the face of the Chamber” and as such are asked to support and participate in various Chamber activities. Areas of primary responsibility include: ribbon cutting ceremonies, luncheons, routine member visits and phone calls, and hosting at other Chamber events.
 

Aperio is an ensemble of local and internationally recognized musicians dedicated to preserving chamber music literature through performances that showcase contemporary composers from the Americas. Through an interactive performance format, the ensemble’s programming examines the art music of South and North America, while revealing the mutual impact that each cultural tradition has had on the other. Concert programs are thematically unified to foster greater appreciation and understanding of the national styles that developed in the New World set in their social and political context with an eye towards contemporary artistic trends and movements. The relationship between selected repertoire and other art forms, such as visual arts, literature, dance, and theater is frequently explored. Programming mainly emphasizes the music of composers from South America and the United States, focusing particularly on the cultural contributions drawn from many indigenous and foreign cultures, while featuring the promotion of new works and emerging composers.

Membership Meet & Greets are held every first Wednesday of the month from 5-7 p.m. Join us to meet Chamber members, shake some hands, talk about your business and learn how the Chamber might support your business from those in the community who know first-hand about the benefits - other Chamber members.

Everyone is invited to this no-program event held each month at different locations across our Chamber membership. This is no charge to attend - we are at the courtesy of our host each month.

Join us at the Houston Northwest Chamber of Commerce Membership Meet & Greet. next Wednesday, April 2, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Swanson Golf Center, 6224 Theall Rd., Houston TX 77066 (click here for MAP). Please come and join us for special door prizes every half hour, some wonderful appetizers, and special drink prices for Chamber Members on the back patio. The covered patio overlooks the shorts game area and fishing pond, and has a full bar.

Maginnes On Tap will be broadcasting live from Swanson Golf Center 4-6pm.  You are welcome to come out early to listen in! John Maginnes is a former PGA player who has a radio talk show on XM and Sirius Radio.

Trout Fishing in America is the 30 year musical partnership of bassist Keith Grimwood and guitarist Ezra Idlet.  The two met while performing in the Houston-based folk-rock band St. Elmo’s Fire.  After St. Elmo’s Fire disbanded in 1979, Grimwood and Idlet formed their own band in Santa Cruz, California.
