Event Description:
HARC's People and Nature Speaker Series brings nationally recognized experts and the public together to talk openly from multiple viewpoints about issues facing our growing region. Join us on Wednesday, September 12, 2018 for our next installment. The event will be held from 6 pm – 8:30 pm at the Museum of Fine Arts Houston, Brown Auditorium [1001 Bissonnet St, Houston, TX 77005]. The program will begin at 6 pm until 7:45 pm, with reception to follow. Register today for early bird pricing! Every year more people are moving to the Houston-Galveston region while hurricanes, floods and historic drought underscore risks to the region’s future prosperity. Local investment is needed to implement strategies and projects to make our communities economically attractive, all while increasing resilience. Public funds distributed from federal, state and local government sources are limited in their scope and ability to support innovative resilience strategies that could create a more livable, nature-based and equitable region. Our upcoming event will feature an evening conversation with six national thought leaders on the topic of innovative resilience financing and will include dialogue on the role the public and private sector can use to develop partnerships and funding mechanisms for the greater Houston region. Thanks to the generous support of the Cynthia & George Mitchell Foundation, educators and students receive complimentary admission to 2018 Speaker Series events. Have questions?
