Name: Community of Hope International Training Course
Date: August 27, 2019
Time: 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM CDT
Event Description:
Beginning August 27, Kinsmen Lutheran Church will offer training for community members who have a passion for serving others through pastoral care. As a designated center for Community of Hope International, Kinsmen trains lay people to serve in pastoral care at hospitals, assisted living centers, or anywhere they feel called.

Over the course of 13 weeks, the training guides participants through the tenants of Benedictine Spirituality—which center around balance, humility, and hospitality—as well as teaching practical lessons on how to minister to others. The next Community of Hope training will begin Tuesday, August 27 and continues through November 19.

Class meets on Tuesday evenings from 5 to 8 p.m. Training is open to the community, and the course fee is just $50. An application form is due two weeks prior to the start of class. Upon completion of the training, lay chaplains choose for themselves where they wish to serve. Lay chaplains also gather each month to connect, debrief, and continue learning in what’s known as the Circle of Care.
