Community: Making A Difference

Name: Community: Making A Difference
Date: May 8, 2017
Time: 1:30 PM - 3:00 PM CDT
Event Description:
Both businesses and non-profits need sustainable strategic alliances with one another.

Non-profits need to evolve past asking for help during times of financial struggle and/or through one-off fundraisers. This type of “beggar mentality” keeps non-profits from having a sustainable impact in their communities. On-going alliances with businesses will allow them to sustain a growing impact.

Businesses are also in a position of need as it relates to alliances with non-profit organizations. In the 2016 Edelman Trust Barometer survey, 80% of the public responded that it’s the responsibility of business to lead in solving social and community problems. The public wants to buy from businesses that are taking on the responsibility of leadership in their communities.

Alliances help grow business as well as allowing for the donations to be claimed as a business expense, not merely a donation. These programs are a win-win for both the non-profits and the businesses.
