City Lights Gala

Name: City Lights Gala
Date: September 9, 2018
Time: 6:30 PM - 10:00 PM CDT
Event Description:

On Sunday, September 9th, Lighthouse for Students will host the First Annual City Lights Gala. We are truly honored to have Jim “Mattress Mack” McIngvale as our keynote speaker, and former University of Texas and NBA star Mo Evans as our first ever Shining Light Honoree.

The Gala supports the hands-on, immersive work being done by our volunteers and staff at Worthing High School. Lighthouse for Students has now been in this challenging neighborhood for over two years establishing a mentor program, leadership council and monthly motivational speakers for this group of under-served children in Houston’s Sunnyside neighborhood.

Since the organization and work to improve these young lives was prominently featured on the Michael Berry Show on KTRH 740 AM and KPRC Channel 2, we’ve seen a year of incredible growth for Lighthouse for Students and will begin work on our second high school – Klein Forest. With an amazing cause, spectacular keynote speaker, and such a passionate advocate as our first honoree, we want to make sure that this first City Lights Gala sets the tone for long-term success and growth.

How can you help? We are in need of community partners to help launch this event the right way. This could be families, individuals or corporate partners. If you have an interest yourself, or if you can suggest someone who is passionate about kids, education and improving our Houston area neighborhoods, please consider sponsoring our events at one of these levels.
